La présente norme prescrit une méthode de détermination de la teneur en cendres sulfatées des graisses lubrifiantes additivées ou non. La norme NF ISO 3987 (indice de classement: T 60-143) décrit la détermination des cendres sulfatées dans les huiles lubrifiantes neuves contenant des additifs et dans les additifs eux-mêmes. Elle diffère de la présente norme pour ce qui est du mode opératoire de calcination (550 °C au lieu de 775 °C).
