Les appareils élévateurs verticaux pour personnes à mobilité réduite définis par la norme NF P 82-222 (de novembre 1996) sont soumis, depuis le 1er janvier 1997, aux exigences essentielles de la Directive Européenne 93/44/CEE ("Directive Levage de personnes"), modifiant la Directive 89/392/CEE ("Directive Machine"), transposée en Droit français par le Code du Travail Art. R. 233-84 Annexe I (Décret n° 92-767 du 29 juillet 1992, modifié par Décret n° 96-725 du 14 août 1996). Le présent document est un guide qui indique comment la norme NF P 82-222 permet de satisfaire à ces exigences essentielles, et fournit des prescriptions complémentaires lorsque la norme ne répond pas, ou ne répond que partiellement, aux exigences formulées par la réglementation.
